Dear parents/guardians,

It is with deep sadness that I inform you about a tragic loss to our school community. On February 7th, a student at Woodlawn Grade School lost his life. The event will undoubtedly raise many emotions for our entire district.

Our district is committed to doing everything we can to help our students, staff, and community with the grieving and healing process. The district has social workers on staff and will have extra outside counselors available for any student, staff member, or parent who may need any sort of assistance surrounding this loss.

This loss will affect everyone in our school family and in the Woodlawn Community. Students may have a difficult time dealing with the loss, and we encourage you to talk with your child.

At this time, the district will not be releasing the name of the student out of respect for the privacy of the families. I appreciate your continued support of our students.
