HAMILTON COUNTY — In response to Cook County Circuit Judge Tracie Porter’s decision Wednesday to remove Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump from the March 19 Illinois Primary ballot, Hamilton County Clerk Heather Bowman says her office has received a few calls about the judge’s decision and wants voters to understand how County Clerks in Illinois have been instructed to move forward.

Bowman released a statement on the Hamilton County Clerk and Recorder’s Facebook page saying the judge’s ruling is on hold pending the outcome of a case before the U.S. Supreme Court where Colorado is trying to remove Trump from the state’s ballot.

The high court heard oral arguments in the Colorado case on Feb. 8 but has not yet issued a decision.

Bowman reassures voters that at this time, no changes have been made to the March 19 Primary ballots and still include Donald Trump as a candidate.

Anyone who has already participated in in-person early voting or vote-by-mail does not need to take any action at this time.

Bowman says her office will follow any affirmed judiciary ruling as it relates to the 2024 Presidential Election and will communicate with the public any updates or rulings as they are made available.
