WASHINGTON COUNTY — More details have been released on that fiery two-vehicle crash last night on U.S. Highway 51 in Washington County that we now know sadly resulted in two fatalities.

According to Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger, his office was dispatched around 9:20 p.m. Sunday to the scene of a head-on motor vehicle crash on US Highway 51 at Irvington with two fatalities.

Styninger pronounced 26-year-old Tyler King, of Decatur, dead at the scene at 9:41 p.m., and 43-year-old Bradley Robb, of Richview, was pronounced dead at 9:42 p.m.

The crash occurred in the northbound passing lane of US Highway 51 as one of the vehicles was driving south in the northbound lane.

King was the unrestrained driver of a Chevrolet Malibu and Robb was the unrestrained driver of a Ford Mustang. The Robb vehicle was fully engulfed in fire upon arrival of the fire department. There were no other occupants in either vehicle.

Both lanes of Route 51 were shut down for hours with traffic being diverted through Irvington while the Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit investigated the crash. The coroner’s office took toxicology samples from both victims for routine testing.

According to Coroner Styninger, the cause of death appears to be blunt force trauma for both individuals, and the manner of death is accidental.

The crash continues to be investigated by the Illinois State Police and the Washington County Coroner’s Office.
