UPDATE: Roadway has been reopened.

RICHVIEW, Ill. — A semi-truck and trailer reportedly left U.S. 51 just before 8 a.m. Friday and struck a natural gas tap in the 800 block of Locust Road.

The incident caused both directions of U.S. 51 to be closed, as the Washington County Emergency Management Agency worked to evacuate residents in the area.

Ameren crews arrived around 8:17 a.m. and began working on making repairs to the gas tap.
