MT. VERNON – A vehicle pursuit Tuesday afternoon in Mt. Vernon ended with a crash and one arrest.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says just before 5 p.m., a deputy on patrol attempted to stop a white 2021 Chevy Malibu traveling at a high rate of speed on Illinois 15 near North Dartmouth Lane in Mt. Vernon.

The Malibu fled south on North Dartmouth Lane and the deputy pursued. The pursuit traveled onto Liberty Road, Log Cabin Lane, Lynchberg Road, then to the intersection at Opdyke Lane, which led to the Malibu and pursuing deputy’s squad truck crashing off the road.

Neither the driver, identified as 22-year-old Brendan T. Frazier of Bluford, nor the deputy were injured. The deputy’s vehicle was able to drive away from the scene. The Malibu was towed from the crash site.

Frazier was taken into custody just moments after the crash. He was taken to the Jefferson County Justice Center where he is being held for Aggravated Fleeing/Attempting to Elude a Peace Officer, Felony Driving While License Suspended, Reckless Driving, and multiple other lesser traffic offenses.
