DIX, IL — A Centralia woman has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the first-degree murder of her husband. Last September, 54 year old Melissa Howes shoved her husband, Jeffrey Howes, to the ground and ran him over twice in a Dix Dollar General parking lot. The incident was captured on video, leading to the murder charge. Howes also faced a DUI conviction but received no additional sentence for that. She will have to serve 100% of her prison term with no chance of early release.
