James Soper, age 89 of Odin, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, at his home.

Jim was born on November 16, 1935, in Odin, Illinois, the son of Don and Pauline (Green) Soper.  He married Sandra G. (Rogers) Soper on July 22, 1968, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and she preceded him in death on August 18, 2027.

Survivors include a niece, Gayla Little and husband Michael of Centralia; three brothers in-law, Kenneth Rogers and wife Vicky of Marion, Illinois, Steve Rogers and wife Debra of Ohio, and John Rogers and wife Mary Ann of Salem; and special friends, Leanna and Lewis Spitler, Ed and Joann Spencer, J.P. Pratt, and Bob Cox.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Pauline; his wife, Sandra; siblings, Harold Soper and Donna (Ken) Jackson; and a nephew, Kenneth Jackson Jr.

Jim was an antique dealer and was the owner of Lincoln Trail Antiques in Odin.   He traveled the world in search of the treasurers for his store.

He honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps where he served as a drill sergeant.

Funeral services for James Soper will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.   Burial will follow at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin with military rites by the Salem American Legion.  There will be a visitation on Thursday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.   Memorial contributions can be made to the Centralia Humane Society and can be left at the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories can be left at www.CrouseFH.com.
