
MT. VERNON, IL — United Way of South Central Illinois, in partnership with The Salvation Army, is excited to announce the return of its CollabHERate & LeaderHERship Initiative. The next event will take place on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at United Way’s new location at 716 Main Street in Mt. Vernon.
This powerful lunch-and-learn event, designed to foster connection and empowerment among women in the region, will feature guest speaker Darla Harms, presenting “Cultivating a Strong Self-Worth.” Attendees will engage in a meaningful conversation on recognizing their own value, walking confidently in it, and inspiring others to do the same.
“CollabHERate & LeaderHERship is all about building a strong community of women who lift each other up,” said Natalie Shook, Executive Director of United Way of South Central Illinois. “We’re thrilled to bring this initiative to our new space and to continue partnering with The Salvation Army to offer this valuable opportunity for growth and connection.”
Lunch will be provided by United Way of South Central Illinois, and tickets are $25 per person.

CollabHERate & LeaderHERship is a collaborative initiative between United Way of South Central Illinois and The Salvation Army, aimed at fostering leadership, collaboration, and personal growth among women in Southern Illinois.
