Donald D. Allison, 93, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 12:00 pm September 15, 2025 at Green Tree Memory Care in Mount Vernon. He was born November 16, 1931 in Peoria, Illinois to the late Pete Edward and Elizabeth Nellie (Sweet) Allison. Donald married Delores Jane (Poindexter) Allison in June 1978. They were blessed with 47 years of marriage.

In addition to his beloved wife, Donald is survived by his children, Kenneth “Russell” Turnbow, Nancy C. (Turnbow) Bradford, and Alan R. Turnbow; eleven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and sister, Bonnie (Allison) Markle.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his sons, Steven Duane Allison, Sr. and David Alan Allison; and siblings, Elizabeth (Allison) Williams, Louisa (Allison) (Flowers) Conine, William A. Allison, Peter E. Allison, Roland D. Allison, and Roger D. Allison.

A Visitation will be held Friday, September 19, 2025 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at West Salem Trinity Church in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 am with Pastor Matthew Dickerson and Pastor Phil Poe officiating. The American Legion Post #141 will conduct full military honors at the start of service. Entombment will take place at American Mausoleum in Peoria, Illinois at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Donald’s honor to the American Heart Association.
