Nola Vaughn Hays Booher, age 91 of St. Elmo, Illinois, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, at her home with her family by her side.

Nola was born on May 5, 1934, in Kinmundy, Illinois, the daughter of Edgar Oscar Hays and Bertha Marie (Cruthis) Hays Prosise.   She married Robert “Bob” Booher on December 28, 1950 in Piggott, Arkansas, and he survives in St. Elmo.

Also surviving are her children, Rhonda Lynn Bowles of Vandalia, Robert Alan Booher and wife Deborah of Dauphin Island, Alabama, Michael Eugene Booher and wife Patricia of Lake Arthur, Louisiana, Kelly Lee Booher and wife LaQuita of St. Elmo, and Russell Dennis Booher and wife Patricia of St. Elmo; grandchildren, Ryan, Tara, Nicole, Nathan, Brandon, Dylan, Cassidy, Colton, Keith, Claralyn, Braiden, and Casey; 22 great grandchildren with one on the way; siblings, Jerry Prosise and wife Missy of Hoopston, Paul Prosise and wife Sharon of Effingham, and Kathryn Booher of Salem; brother in-law, Dean Guymon; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Bertha; step-father, Gerald Prosise; son, Keith Booher; a grandson, Robert Ray Booher; a son in-law, Chuck Bowles; and siblings, Murl and wife Delores, Charlie and wife Dee, Donald, Kerroll and wife Lila; and Elwood and wife Betty; and  brothers and sisters in law, David Booher, Dot and Jim Schwandt, Carol Guymon.

Nola was a member of the St. Elmo Christian Church.   She was a homemaker and built a loving home for her family who she dearly loved.   She loved to golf and go bowling.   She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.  Her true joy in her life was her family.

Celebration of Life services for Nola Booher will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Noon at the St. Elmo Christian Church with Jim Quick officiating. There will be a time to visit with the family at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.   Memorial contributions can be made to the donor’s choice and will be received at the St. Elmo Christian Church or at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences and memories can be left at www.CrouseFH.com.
