Salem Police say an officer along with the mother of the victim responded to do a welfare check at home on East Church Street Thursday after a female called her mother for help. The victim told police she had not been allowed to leave the home and had been shoved, hit, threatened with a baseball bat, and had water poured on her by 25-year-old Wyatt Dailey. Dailey fled the scene on a bicycle before he was able to be detained.

Police found Dailey Saturday at Walmart after he was accused of a retail theft, but no charges were pressed. He was taken into custody for the Thursday incident.

While being taken to the patrol car, Dailey pulled away from an officer and fled on foot. He was caught after a short chase in the parking lot and was charged with Resisting Arrest.

Dailey was also charged with Domestic Battery (felony due to prior convictions) and Unlawful Restraint in reference to the incident from Thursday.
