SALEM – An early Sunday morning traffic stop in Salem ended with the arrest of two men for methamphetamine possession.

According to Salem Police, an officer stopped the driver, 34-year-old Edward Hurd, for failing to signal a lane change. Hurd’s passenger was 35-year-old Timothy Pomeroy.

Two more officers arrived, one with a K-9. The K-9 alerted to the vehicle.

After both men got out of the vehicle, Pomeroy fled on foot, but was caught. He had drug paraphernalia with residue in his pockets. A baggie containing suspected meth was found on the ground nearby. A drug pipe with residue was found near Hurd in the vehicle.

Both men were charged with Possession of Less Than 5 Grams of Meth. Pomeroy was also charged with Resisting Arrest.
