
Gwendolyn D. “Gwyn” Stanford, age 96 of Salem, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025, at her home in Salem.
Gwyn was born on November 26, 1929, in Levelland, Texas, the daughter of L.J. and Elsie (Roberts) Williams. She married Wayne T. Stanford on June 19, 1948, in Fairbanks, Texas and he preceded her in death on June 22, 2009.
Survivors include her daughters, Cindy Dice and husband Jim of Salem, Debi Dellicarpini and husband John of Fort Lauderdale, Florida ; and Becky Richards of Blairsville, Georgia; grandchildren, Aaron Dice and wife Jennifer, Josh Dice and wife Mary Alice, David Dice and wife Lauren, Daniel Dice and wife Beth, Joy Conner, Jenna Rohrbach and husband Neal, Katy Kardell and husband Joel, Leah Dellicarpini, and Hannah Richards; great grandchildren, Ryan Cape, Teyah Cape, Eli Dice, Caleb Dice, Sarah Purcell, Andrew Dice, Emily VanHyning, Abby Dice, Cooper, Carstan, and Knox Dice, Gracie, Mason, and Ocean Dice, Colt Conner, Trey, Brenton, Marianna, and Gwyneth Fleishman, and Colin, Evan, Levi, and Paxton Kardell; great-great grandchildren, Margeaux Cape, Kaiden Dice, Earl Purcell; a sister in-law, Donna Stanford of Parrish, Florida; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, L.J. and Elsie Williams; her husband, Wayne; three brothers, Bobby, Dale, and Jerry Williams; a sister, Melba June Williams; and a son in-law, Mike Richards.
Gwyn was deeply devoted to her faith, and her life was firmly grounded in her Heavenly Father, whom she would want to be at the very center of all things. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Salem and had a genuine love for people, often serving as a compassionate listener and a source of encouragement to those around her. She could often be found reading her Bible or writing in her gratitude journal. In her younger years Gwyn enjoyed sewing and playing golf, but her greatest joy in her life was always her family.
Funeral services for Gwendolyn Stanford will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Salem with her grandson, Chaplain David Dice, officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery in Salem. There will be a time to visit with the family at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
