Kathryn D. Bowling, age 78 of Salem, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025, in Salem.

 

Kathy was born on March 14, 1947, in Superior, Wisconsin, the daughter of Marshall and Hazel (Eastman) Schlais.  She married Lonnie C. Bowling on December 2, 1995, in Salem and he preceded her in death.

 

Survivors include her children, Michelle “Shelly” Coursolle and husband Larry of Sturgeon Lake, MN, Tracy Claunch and husband Jim of Salem, Kimberly Blaylock and husband Keith of Massillon, OH, Timothy Levens and husband Rokas Juodeska of Habsheim, France, Amy Robinson and husband Scott of Birmingham, AL, and Jennifer McCarty and husband Eddie of Owingsville, KY; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with two more on the way; one brother, Edward Schlais and wife Kelly; and several nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Lowell and David Schlais.

 

Kathryn was a faithful and devoted member of the Apostolic Church of Salem. Her love for Jesus was evident in her service, as she taught Sunday School to children for 56 years and taught her final class just five days before entering eternal rest. She found great joy in singing praises to her Lord and Savior, and today we take comfort in knowing she is worshipping Him in Heaven. Along with her dedication to her church, Kathryn enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and was a gifted seamstress, sharing her talents with love and care.

 

A Celebration of Life for Kathryn D. Bowling will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at the Apostolic Church of Salem with Calvin Jean officiating.  A time of visitation will be held from 1:30 pm until the time of the service.  Interment will be in East Lawn Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Tupelo Children’s Mansion and can be received at the church or at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.
