
Lonnie Holleman, age 83, of Johnsonville, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on January 6, 1943, in Marion County, Illinois, the son of Earl and Dorothy (Stonecipher) Holleman. He married Peggy (Wooters) Holleman in 1998 in Wayne County and together they shared 27 years united in marriage. Lonnie was a hardworking man who dedicated much of his life to his career in the carshop with Illinois Central Railroad and in construction where he worked as a cement mason. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving his country with honor during Vietnam. Lonnie is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Holleman of Johnsonville; his daughter, Kelly Burgess and husband Rick of Iuka; his grandchildren, KaRissa Allison and Kelsey Holzhausen; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, in-law, Shelby Sladek, Barbara Delaney, Patty Davis, Shirley Sill and Vickie Brubaker; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Dorothy Holleman; his sister, Janice Harmon; his brother, Billy Holleman; and his brother in-law, Glen Harmon. Graveside services for Lonnie Holleman will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Cemetery in Centralia, Illinois on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, with Bob Helm officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or St. Louis Children’s Hospital in his honor and will be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.
