Dennis Philip Soger, 92, of Texico, Illinois, passed away at 7:08 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2026, at his home.

He was born April 22, 1934, at home in Marion County, Illinois, the son of Audrey Hassel “Cap” and Jessie Louisa (Simmons) Soger.  On February 12, 1955, at Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, he married Norma Jean Timmons, and she preceded him in death.

Mr. Soger attended Old Donoho Prairie One Room School, and Hickory Hill School, and graduated from Salem Community High School.  He was the oldest life-long member of Donoho Prairie Christian Church at the time of his passing, where he served as a Deacon and as a member of the Donoho Prairie Cemetery Board.  He was a 50-year member of Marion County Farm Bureau, and was an FFA Honorary Chapter Farmer.  He enjoyed raising beef cattle, restoring vintage and antique tractors, riding his 4-wheeler, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He also enjoyed all aspects of hay season and being in the field.  He worked for sixteen years as a machinist at Ziegler Stove Foundry in Centralia, and also worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for General Contractors, Inc., in Junction City, prior to his retirement.  He also served as the Romine Township Road Commissioner.

He is survived by two sons, Randy Soger and wife Shelley of Mt. Vernon, Darrel Soger and wife Sherry of Texico; two daughters, Vicky Pollock and husband Gary of Camp Verde, Arizona, and Laurie Hawkins and husband Wade of Kell, Illinois; eleven grandchildren, Brandi Palmer and husband Alex, Kalen Soger, Dakota Soger, Kyla Borcherding and husband Levi, Bryce Soger and wife Jacklyn, Dustin Pollock and wife Marisa, Audrey Hender and husband Matthew, Jordan Pollock, Matthew Hawkins and wife Carissa, Morgan Johns and husband Cyle, and Alex Hawkins and wife Emily; eighteen great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Charlotte, Jessa, and Silas Palmer, Hallie Borcherding, Landyn Dotson, Jocelyn Soger, Connor and Layton Pollock, Ainsley, Eleanor, Lydia, and Evelyn Hender, Aiden and Mason Millner, Maddison and Oaklyn Hawkins, and Wesley Hawkins; and brother, Gary Soger.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Soger; parents, Audrey Hassel and Jessie Louisa Soger; sister, Willa Dean Stuber; and brother, Larry Z. Soger.

Funeral services for Mr. Soger will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon), Monday, May 25th, 2026, at Donoho Prairie Christian Church in Texico, with Matt Renaud officiating.  Burial will follow at Donoho Prairie Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Monday, May 25th, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service, at the church.  Memorial gifts may be made to Donoho Prairie Christian Church Building Fund, and will be accepted at the service, or by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O.
