Updating a story from earlier this week, a southwestern Illinois man is jailed on $2 million bond after being accused in the shooting death of an acquaintance who investigators believe wasn’t the intended target. Prosecutors in Saint Clair County charged 36-year old Dashon Hinkle of Belleville with first-degree murder in the Saturday night killing of John Fath Senior. Authorities say the 53-year old was shot in the leg as he opened the front door of his home. He died later at a hospital. Belleville police Lt. Matt Eiskant tells the Belleville News-Democrat that Fath wasn’t the intended target. They say Hinkle went to the home to pay a visit to Fath’s son, who has a lengthy criminal record.
