U.S. Senator Dick Durbin spoke on the Senate floor in Washington about the late former mayor of Du Quoin. Durbin’s office says he paid tribute to John Rednour on Monday. The 78-year old died on December 1st at a DuQuoin hospital. He was mayor of the 6,400-resident Perry County city for 24 years. He stepped down earlier this year because of health issues. Durbin says Rednour “worked all his life to create opportunities and a sense of community for others.” Rednour was a county commissioner, chairman of the state’s Democratic Party and a member of the Illinois State Police Merit Board.
