Illinois Governor Pat Quinn will sign legislation designed to crack down on bullying. A Quinn spokesman says the bill the governor will sign today will help protect students from bullying both inside and outside the classroom. The legislation was sponsored by Representative Kelly Cassidy and Senator Heather Steans, both Chicago Democrats. It requires all public schools to develop and implement an anti-bullying policy. The policy must include a definition of bullying, procedures for the reporting of bullying, parental notification, the investigation of reports of bullying and actions that may be taken to address bullying.
