A United States Grand Jury returned a two-count indictment against 45-year old Steve M. Dodson and his wife, 43-year old Denise K. Dodson, both of Collinsville, charging them with Conspiracy to Commit Bank Robbery and Bank Robbery, according to United States Attorney Stephen R. Wigginton. Following a hearing, both were ordered held in custody without bond pending trial, which is set for August 25, 2014. The offenses charged in the indictment allege that on May 24, 2013, they committed the offenses of Conspiracy to Commit Bank Robbery and Bank Robbery by driving to the Scott Credit Union in O’Fallon, Illinois, where Steve Dodson exited the vehicle, put a mask over his face and walked toward the credit union, while Denise Dodson waited in a car to drive her husband away from the credit union. Steve approached two employees of Scott Credit Union, told them that he had a gun and took money belonging to the credit union, stealing and retaining approximately $100,000 and then he fled the scene in a vehicle driven by Denise. The announcement of this Indictment was delayed until the Dodsons could be brought into the federal system. Before this time, they were each serving sentences in the Illinois Department of Corrections for crimes related to burglary. If convicted, each person faces a term in prison of up to 5 years on the charge of Conspiracy to Commit Bank Robbery and a term in prison of up to 20 years on the charge of Bank Robbery. They also face a fine up to $250,000 and a term of supervised release of up to 5 years once they are released.
