The Tri-County Electric Cooperative Annual Meeting is tomorrow in Mount Vernon.  Registration and breakfast begins at 7:30 AM.  The exhibits also open then.  All those who attend and register before 10 AM will receive an attendance prize of $10 off of their August bill.  There will be a live line demonstration at 8:45 and the children’s activities open at 9 AM, but closes at 10 AM for the business meeting.  They will open again afterwards.  Director of Members Services Bruce Barkau explains the purpose of the meeting, saying they cover the business aspects of Tri-County Electric with reports from the Treasurer, President and Manager.  They also go through the nominations for the directors, of which there are 3 openings.  Rick Russell is running for re-election to represent Washington County.  Sam Phillips is running for re-election for Marion County.  In Jefferson County, there is a race between incumbent Donnie Laird and newcomer Mark Kash.  After the meeting, Barkau says they will give away 30 to 40 prizes and lunch will be served at 11:30 featuring BBQ and lemon shakeups.  He says they will also be giving out patronage checks, which are capital credit checks with refunds from the years 196 and 1987, so if you were a customer then or had an error that was on their lines in those years, you can pick a check up on Saturday.  If you are not able to attend, the checks will be mailed out early next week.  Barkau says there isn’t enough parking at the offices, so they will again have shuttle service from Times Square Mall, so park there and catch a ride on the shuttle.
