Saint Clair County police say a man has drowned in a pond following what appears to be a wheelchair or scooter accident.  The Belleville News-Democrat reports Swansea police say a 51-year old Belleville man drowned yesterday at Centennial Park.  They say park visitors discovered the man when they saw part of his body sticking out of the pond.  Police say the shore is uneven and it appears the man went into the water accidentally.  They say he was strapped into the apparatus with a safety belt.  Police didn’t immediately release the man’s name because not all of his relatives had been notified.
