A southwestern Illinois township will pay $60,000 to settle a federal lawsuit that claimed it charged a nonprofit group quadruple what it normally collects to install a sewer hook-up.  The Belleville News-Democrat reports that Caseyville Township east of Saint Louis will pay the money to Belleville-based Cerebral Palsy of Southwestern Illinois.  The township also will refund the fee of more than $10,000 it charged for getting the agency sewer service.  The lawsuit alleged that the township’s trustees discriminated against disabled residents by charging the higher fee.  The settlement agreement states that the township doesn’t admit any wrongdoing, but settled to avoid additional expense.
