The Nashville City Council met last night for a short meeting. Opal Koch (Coke) of the Washington County Senior Services was scheduled to talk to the Council, but she rescheduled for next meeting. Street Department Supervisor Richard Schuette said the new shed is going up well and the trusses should be going in next week. The Council also discussed the concrete work needed to be done for the apron in front of the building. Lake Contracting was approved for $43,830, which includes labor and materials, to do the work. The size of the apron is 40 feet by 220 feet and it will be 8 inches thick. In a bit of business that didn’t really concern the Council, they approved a resolution concerning the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund. City Clerk Joyce Sheridan explained the situation, as an employee is required to participate in the IMRF if they work 1,000 hours or more in a year for the municipality. Prior to that, it was 600 hours per year. In 1966, the City Council, under the 600 hour requirement, passed a resolution allowing elected officials to participate, if they chose to, as it was not required of them. That resolution is still in effect. IMRF has been making some changes and reviewing resolutions and under the 1,000 hour requirement and in most municipalities, the city members do not meet that requirement. So, since none of the Council members are in the IMRF, they approved a resolution terminating the participation into the IMRF. This was not in regard to any city employee, just the City Council members.
