There was an accident in Nashville last Friday afternoon on Route 127, just south of East Maple Street involving 3 vehicles. According to the Illinois State Police out of DuQuoin, it happened as a car driven by 18-year old Chase B. Bridges of Spring, Texas, was going northbound and allegedly did not stop for the traffic in front of him and hit the rear of a car driven by a 19-year old female from Carbondale. Her vehicle was pushed into the rear of the vehicle driven by a 39-year old male from DeSoto, Illinois. Everyone was wearing their seatbelt and no one was injured. Bridges was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
The Illinois State Police responded to an accident on Interstate 64 near mile marker 38 on Tuesday afternoon. According to their report, it occurred in the westbound lanes as vehicles were approaching Illinois Department of Transportation vehicles patching the highway. A pick-up truck driven by 70-year old Jerry Hoffee of East Saint Louis allegedly did not stop in time to avoid hitting a dump truck that had the arrow for traffic to merge left, as it was serving as a buffer between traffic and the workers in front. The 49-year old male from Addieville in the dump truck was not injured and neither was Hoffee, as both were wearing their seatbelt. Hoffee was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded to an accident Wednesday morning on State Route 127, just north of Posen Road, south of Nashville. According to the report, a vehicle driven by 42-year old Christy L. Woodside of Pinckneyville was stopped in traffic due to construction work. She was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by 85-year old Richard L. Cobb of Nashville. Woodside’s vehicle was pushed forward and struck a vehicle driven by 39-year old Kevin E. Reichert of Murphysboro. Nashville Fire and Washington County Ambulance responded to the scene, but there was no mention of any injuries. Cobb was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
