The Nashville City Council met last night and they approved a letter of support for Nature’s Care, who is trying to get state permission to build a medical marijuana cultivation center in Nashville.  The letter includes the location of two 8-acre tracts of land north of town next to Nascote Industries off Enterprise Avenue that was annexed into the city and rezoned from residential to manufacturing.  In the letter, the city also has other specifications, such as it will not be open to the public, the security measures have been found adequate by the Chief of Police, the city will sell utilities to Nature’s Care, the business will not adversely affect any neighboring property, the company will utilize revenues for the benefit of Nashville and it will open up job opportunities.  No one from the community showed up at the Zoning Committee meeting or the regular meeting to offer comments or ask questions.  The previous location for Nature’s Care was within 2,500 feet of homes near McDonalds and Little Nashville, which were zoned residential.  There are homes in the area of the new location, but they are zoned as agriculture, so it is not an issue.  During the regular meeting, the 16 acres were annexed into the city limits and then were rezoned to allow for a business to go into that area between Nascote and the row of businesses at LRB.
