The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees met Mondayfor the regular monthly meeting.  They approved a resolution allowing all veterans, active military and their eligible dependents to be charged in-district tuition regardless of their residency status effective with the Spring 2015 Semester.  This offering is yet another example of how Kaskaskia College provides a veteran and military-friendly educational environment and holds the promise of recruiting additional veterans and military students to complete their education goals at KC.  The City of Greenville and County of Bond County, Illinois, have developed an application for an Enterprise Zone.  The Board of Trustees of Kaskaskia College find that the designation of the proposed Enterprise Zone will stimulate economic revitalization, and therefore the Board authorizes the County Clerk of Bond County to abate ad valorum taxes on real property located within the Zone.  The Board also accepted the donation of a propane truck from PSC Custom, LC for the Welding Program as well as a baby grand piano from Stephanie Buscheart of Chesterfield, Missouri.  They learned that The Respiratory Therapy Program hosted a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care on-site accreditation visit on November 20th and 21st.  During this visit the evaluators met with administration, faculty, graduates, current students, the program medical director, the advisory committee and clinical preceptors.  They commented that the self-study and program materials/documents were some of the best prepared that they have ever witnessed.  They also commented that the program has excellent outcomes, terrific facilities and excellent input from students, graduates, advisory members and clinical preceptors.  In addition, they stated that the program has very dedicated faculty with outstanding administrative support.  The Board approved the hiring of Jennings Carter of Greenville as the new full-time Director of Physical Plant and also approved the re-classification of Michelle Hill of Hoffman as full-time Business Learning Specialist.  The Board approved resolutions for the purchase of classroom furniture for the Crisp Technology Center to Business Interiors by Staples of Saint Louis and the vendor for Cisco Network Switches and Services to Netech Corporation of Peoria.
