A jury in southwestern Illinois has acquitted a man who was previously tried and convicted before a judge implicated in a courthouse drug scandal.  The Belleville News-Democrat reports the Saint Clair county jury on Friday found 30-year old William Cosby not guilty in the 2012 shooting death of Antwan Thomas outside an East Saint Louis lounge.  Defense attorney Justin Kuehn argued Cosby shot Thomas in self-defense.  Cosby had been found guilty last year, but a judge ordered him retried.  He concluded that Cosby’s attorneys should have been told that both the presiding judge, Michael Cook, and the case’s key investigator were under separate drug investigations.  Cook later pleaded guilty to federal heroin possession and weapons charges and is serving a two-year prison term in Florida.
