The City of Nashville is still digging out from the snow dumped on it last weekend. Street Department Supervisor, Rich Shuette says they have been busy in town, getting roads cleaned. He reports they used 4 loader tractors uptown with 4 dump bed trucks, as well as 3 plow trucks running. The crew consisted of 11 workers and they averaged 7 hours of overtime. Schuette says this was pretty much everything they had and they have been running through salt and need more, as he says they have gone through a little over half of their supply and will be purchasing another 50 tons to put them in good shape for the next big snowfall. They handle approximately 27 miles of roadway, which includes north of town to keep the plants open and any designated street in the city limits, but the roads to Washington County Hospital and around the ambulance service are priorities. He says one of the obstacles that his crew had to deal with were vehicles still on the side of the city streets, which can make it difficult for proper cleaning.
