The Illinois State Police Division of Internal Investigation initiated a death investigation at the Murray Developmental Center in Centralia at the request of the Illinois Department of Human Services Office of the Inspector General.  A resident of Murray Developmental Center was pronounced dead on March 30, 2015 at 9:49 PM at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.  An autopsy was declined by the legal guardian and the cause of death was listed as natural causes.  During the course of a mortality review, staff became concerned about discrepancies among the statements of those responsible for the care of the resident.  The IDHS OIG was called in to conduct an investigation and subsequently referred the matter to the ISP.  The investigation is ongoing, but no further information is being released at this time.
