The Okawville Village Board had their monthly meeting on Monday night.  Village Clerk Wayland Jasper says the new Board was sworn in.  Ronda Pryor and Brian Nelson were re-elected, while Drew Hesker was elected to take Rodney Brockmann’s position, as he has moved to Albers.  They also approved of which Board members would chair the various committees and who would serve on them.  Jasper ran through the list, which includes Nelson as the chair for the Water & Sewer Committee with Morris Ritzel and Nathan Dick, while Ronda Pryor chairs the Personnel & Property Committee with Sarah Deterding and Nelson, and Ritzel chairs the Finance & Contracts Committee with Pryor and Hesker.  Dick chairs the Street & Sidewalk Committee with Deterding and Hesker, while Deterding chairs the Police & Liquor Committee with Nelson and Pryor.  The Claims Committee is chaired by Ritzel with Hesker and Board President David Jasper will attend Tourism meetings as requested.  Police Chief Steve Millikin received a plaque from the Southern Illinois Enforcement Commission and SIPA for 100 percent participation of the department in safety training for police officers.  The Board then agreed to seek bids for a different truck for the Street Department, while they also agreed to sell a 1997 dump truck.  They also approved the annual liquor licenses for Circle K and Road Ranger, while approving the semi-annual liquor licenses for Plum Creek Golf Course LLC, the American Legion and Christ Brothers, for their grocery store.  Jasper says this is to allow for video gaming machines to be in some of these locations.  He then reported that the Village got their monthly check from the proceeds of video gaming in the amount of $3,522.  There were some items approved to be purchased for installation at the Spring Valley lift station.  This includes a control box for a cost not to exceed $6,160 and a new generator and propane tank at a cost not to exceed $8,000.  They also approved of the purchase of a new 3-phase pump, not to exceed $4,519, if they can’t convert a pump they have to work at a lower price.  The Board also approved the salaries for all Village employees for 2015 – 2016 fiscal year, including the police officers.  They then appointed Steve Millikin as Police Chief, Joe Maddaleno as Street Superintendent, John Burns as Sewer & Water Superintendent and Dawn Moyer as Zoning Administrator and Treasurer.  The next meeting is on Tuesday, May 26th, as Monday is a holiday.
