Becker’s Hospital Review recently included HSHS Saint Joseph-Breese on their national list of “52 Hospitals with the Cleanest Patient Rooms, as reported by patients.” To be listed, 89 percent or more of the patients at that facility had to have described their room and bathroom as “always” clean on their HCAHPS or Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Survey. The score for Saint Joseph’s in Breese for “always” having a clean patient room and bathroom was 93 percent. In comparison, the national average is 74 percent. Cleanliness is also important for infection control. Rene Kruse, the hospital’s Infection Preventionist, emphasized the importance of cleanliness and thanked Housekeeping colleagues for their efforts.
