It’s time for all dog owners in Washington County to get their pet their rabies vaccination. It is a county ordinance, along with the Illinois State Animal Control Act, that requires every dog 4 months of age or older to have a rabies vaccination and be registered in the county where the owner resides. Owners may choose to get a 1 year or 3 year vaccination for their dog. It is $10 for the 1 year vaccine or $25 for the 3 year vaccine. Dogs under 1 year old can only get the 1 year vaccine. Dogs will be registered at the time of the shot and that is $4 per year. Dogs not spayed or neutered also have an additional $10 registration fee, which is deposited into the state pet population control fund. The traveling clinic begins on Monday and will be at the Ashley Fire Station from 8:30 to 9:30 AM, at the Radom Village Hall from 9:45 to 10:15 AM, at the DuBois Village Park from 10:30 to 11 AM, at the Pilot Knob Town Hall from 1 to 1:30 PM, at the Oakdale Town Hall from 1:45 to 2:15 PM, at the Lively Grove Town Hall from 2:30 to 3 PM and finally at Waller’s Market on Route 153 from 3:15 to 3:30 PM. They will be in other parts of the county on Tuesday and Thursday. For more information, contact the Washington County Animal Shelter at 327-4800, extension 355.
