The Washington County Sheriff’s Department was busy in the past week, including 4 accident calls. One week ago there was an accident involving 24-year old Samantha M. Pruitt of DuQuoin, as the SUV she was driving went off the roadway and struck a concrete culvert, causing the vehicle to roll over. She was taken to Pinckneyville Hospital for minor injuries and was cited for Improper Lane Usage, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, DUI and Endangering the Life of a Child. Last Wednesday, they responded to an accident involving a deer on Interstate 64 at mile marker 47. A vehicle driven by 19-year old Tyler Telkamp of Slayton, Minnesota struck a deer, but he was not injured. Later, there was an accident on West Frontage Road at Walnut Hill Road, as a vehicle driven by 37-year old Dennis D. Schuchmann of Centralia struck a ditch, but there were no injuries reported and no citations issued. Then on Friday, they assisted the Irvington Police Department with a crash.
