There was a significant amount of rain in Illinois at the end of the weekend and Carlyle Lake is rising.  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reports it will crest on Friday at 450 feet, as the target pool is 445 feet.  At this time, they are reporting that this will have minimal affects and Dam West, McNair, Boulder and Coles Creek Campgrounds and boat ramps should remain open.  Areas that might be closed include township roads around the lake, the Keyesport and Lakeview fishing piers, as well as some breakwaters.  Therefore, both motorists and boaters should be careful while in the Carlyle Lake area.  Some partially submerged structures could become fully submerged, so boaters should be familiar with the areas they are traveling in.  They should also watch for floating debris and logs.  For more information, call 618-594-2484.
