It’s a big weekend in Okawville as it is the 33rd Annual Heritage Days Festival, sponsored by the Heritage House Museum Association. Charlie Meier is one of the people in charge of the event and he says there will be plenty of food, music, sales, crafts, tours of a historic site and more on Saturday and Sunday. The hours are from 10 AM to 5 PM each day. The event is centered around the Schlosser Complex at 114 West Walnut Street and Meier says it is very special, as the buildings are still original and in great working shape. Besides visiting the farm, there will be music from the Thursday Night Thunder dulcimer group on Saturday from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM, then Sonya’s Gotta Dance from 1 to 2 PM and the Venedy Band performs until 4 PM. On Sunday, Soul Shake will perform rock, soul and oldies from 11:45 AM to 1 PM. The big activity on Sunday is the Action Auction at 2 PM. Other events include a flea market, a farmer’s market, a country store and yard sales throughout the area. There also games for the kids, including live turtle races and backyard bowling. For more information, call the Okawville Tourism Office at 243-5694. Later this week, Charlie Meier will talk about all the food they will have this weekend at the Heritage Days Festival.
