The Oakdale Grade School Board of Education met Monday night and Superintendent Charles Peterson says they had a public hearing on the Amended Budget.  He says it will be pretty close to having a positive balance of $20,000, but that was because of the great support from the fundraising that was done during the year, especially to raise the extra money to get the boiler replaced.  And if it wasn’t for the community, they might actually be over budget.  He said the boiler replacement project has begun, as the old boiler has been removed and the new one should be in by the end of July.  The Board also approved of Peterson to begin work on the next school year’s budget.  He also reported that they are compliant with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act for the year after their review, as they are meeting all the requirements.  The Board hired Crystal Diecker as cook to replace Shirley Buss, who retired this year.  Also, all non-certified personnel were hired back with a 2 percent raise.  Besides the new boiler being put in, there are only the usual summer maintenance projects, such as cleaning, painting, cleaning out the computers, and waxing floors.  He adds that there were 76 students at the end of the school year, but they anticipate 80 to 82 students for the Fall.
