The Washington County Sheriff’s Department only responded to 1 accident and assisted 3 motorists in the past week.  The accident was on Friday on County Highway 11 near Wyoming Road, as a vehicle driven by 35-year old Benjamin R. Minton of Carbondale, hydroplaned and went off the road, striking a ditch.  There was no report of any injuries or citations issued.  Other calls on Tuesday included assisting the Nashville Police Department on a traffic stop, arresting 18-year old Courtney Smith of rural Lively Grove on a Saint Clair County warrant and arresting 39-year old Ronald Henderson of Shobonier on a Washington County warrant.  On Wednesday, they responded to tree limbs in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 and on Route 15, just east of Route 153 and returned a phone call regarding suspicious activity at a residence near Okawville.  On Friday, deputies assisted the motorists and responded to debris on Route 127, north of Nashville.  On Saturday, they responded to Route 127 at the Clinton County Line for an investigation, assisted the NPD with a traffic stop, responded to rural Okawville for a report of suspicious activity, responded to a report of a domestic dispute in rural Hoyleton and to an address in rural Ashley for domestic trouble.  On Sunday, they took a report of criminal damage to property occurring at a residence in rural Venedy, as well as a report of burglary from a motor vehicle at a residence in Venedy and a report of fraud from a resident of Venedy.  They also responded to the Hoyleton Children’s Home for a report of battery.
