The Board of Trustees of Kaskaskia College met earlier this week and approved an Undergraduate Teacher Education Partnership with Greenville College that establishes a 2+2 Agreement for Elementary Education. This agreement provides opportunities for KC students to receive advising, early in route to Illinois teacher licensing Elementary Education, and Greenville College to recruit students who typically do well in a four-year degree program.  The Board approved the intent to levy for the Equity Tax at the rate of 4.63 cents per $100 equalized assessed valuation.  KC once again met the criteria and ICCB specified the rate authority.  A public hearing on the Equity Tax will be held prior to the November KC Board meeting on November 23, 2015.  The Board approved an amended resolution for Protection, Health, and Safety Projects for FY2017.  These projects include the Salem Education Center Moisture Mitigation, Library Ceiling Project, Roofing Phase I, and Main Campus HVAC Repairs – Phase I totaling $751,405.  They also approved a resolution to move forward with the bidding process for Protection, Health, and Safety projects, which include the ADA Campuswide Signage and the Emergency Lighting and Exit Sign Improvement Project.  Funding for these services will come from PHS Funds previously allocated for this purpose.  In personnel action, the board approved the hiring of Eric Kelly of Centralia as the new Programmer – Systems Support Specialist. They approved a donation of 1984 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible that will be used in fundraising efforts for the Nashville Education Center Campaign.
