The Memorial Park Board met last night and reported that they bought a 1996 bucket truck from Washington County Water Company for $3,000. They also went over the progress of the electric project of taking out the overhead wiring and putting it all underground. The city will do the boring for the conduit, but they are waiting for J & R Appliances to get some other work done and some pull boxes put in before the boring is done. This could be another couple of weeks away though. The Board also approved of Phase II of the project in the amount of $19,129 to J & R Appliances. Board President Steve Fletcher explained what this phase includes, which is for the installation of the switch meter cabinet and CT cabinet to the transformer, so the existing pole and transformer will be replaced with the switch, eliminating the need for the pole and its transformer. They discussed some extensive work to be done to the pool building, such as fixing the soffit, fascia, underpinning, extending the roof out and door work, but they are waiting for some pricing. They also discussed modernizing the plumbing and fixtures in the bathroom areas. The Board approved of spending no more than $5,000 for the clearing of brush in several areas of the park, as it has gotten high. This project could take up to 3 days. The delivery of the playground equipment for the Sierra Wilder Playground is expected within a couple of weeks. Volunteers will then get together on a weekend to put it together and install it in the ground. Concrete work will also need to be done. The next meeting is on Tuesday, December 1st with a tax levy hearing at 6 o’clock and then the regular meeting will follow.
