Glen Carbon author Bill Nunes will be at the Nashville Public Library this Saturday from 1:30 to 3 PM. Nunes will talk about his latest volume, “THE GOOD OLD DAYS: nostalgia from the 1930s, ’40s, ’50s and ’60s.” This is a fun “show and tell” event where Nunes will bring along memorabilia from the past to test the collective knowledge of the group. Do you remember the good old days of corkball, mumblety peg, jacks, paper dolls, kick the can, inner tube guns, Howdy Doody, Cinerama, poodle skirts, bobby sox, Esther Williams swimming pools, Tarzan movies, Drive-in shows, 78 r.p.m. records, Slinky, Hula Hoops, radio heroes such as Sky King and Plastic Man comic books? Everyone who attends will receive a free copy of “ILLINOIS IN THE ROARING TWENTIES.” Youth who attend will be given a free copy of either his “BOYS BOOK” or “GIRLS BOOK”, appropriate for kids age 7 to 16. Nunes will have available other best-sellers for purchase including “THE BIG BOOK OF ST. LOUIS AND SOUTHERN ILLINOIS CRIME” and “THE ST. LOUIS CARDINALS: AN ILLUSTRATED HISTORY.” For more information, call 327-3827.
