One week ago, 33-year old Michael F. Halliday, also known as “Micky,” of Elkville, pled guilty to one-count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, according to the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton. Evidence at the plea hearing established that Halliday was involved with others in the manufacture of methamphetamine. The offense occurred between 2013 and June 2015, in Perry, Jackson and Randolph Counties. Halliday is currently being held without bond pending a February 23, 2016, sentencing hearing. He faces a penalty of up to 20 years in federal prison, to be followed by 3 years’ supervised release, and a $1 million fine. The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, the Perry County Drug Task Force, the Illinois State Police Methamphetamine Response Team, the DuQuoin Police Department, the Pinckneyville Police Department, among several other agencies.
