There were several accidents to report in the past week.  The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded to 4 of them and assisted one motorist.  The first one Friday was on U.S. Highway 51 near Posen Road, as a car driven by 18-year old Braxton A. Clark of Tamaroa went off the road and struck a culvert.  There were no injuries reported, but Clark was cited for Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.  Later on Interstate 64 going west near mile marker 49, as a vehicle driven by 22-year old Dominique L. Koch of Centralia went out of control due to the wet road conditions.  No injuries or citations were reported.  They also assisted the Illinois State Police with an accident on I-64, but no details have been released yet.  Later, there was an accident on I-64 as a vehicle driven by 76-year old Frederick R. Cook of Sesser struck a deer and then went off the road.  There were no injuries.  The Nashville Police Department also responded to some accidents in the past week.  Last Monday, there was one on the Kroger parking lot, but it was a fender bender and no one was injured.  There was an accident on Wednesday evening on South Grand Avenue at West Lebanon Street.  A 17-year old female from Hoyleton pulled out in front of a southbound vehicle being driven by 22-year old Casey Tebbe of Nashville and the vehicles struck each other in the front.  There were no injuries reported and no citations issued.  On Saturday, officers assisted the ISP as they responded to an accident on I-64 near the 46.5 mile marker, but no details have been released on that.  Later that night, they assisted the ISP on I-64 at mile marker 48 and the vehicle caught fire.  A car driven by 20-year old Andrew J. Mullenger of Brentwood, Tennessee was going west in the left lane, when it went out of control due to the weather, as he was changing lanes.  The car went off the roadway, struck a tree, then went into a ditch and caught fire.  Mullenger sustained minor injuries, but refused treatment, but was cited for Traveling Too Fast for Conditions.  The Nashville Fire Department responded to put out the fire.
