The deadline to file to be on the ballot for the March 15th Primary Election was on Monday at 5 PM.  Washington County Clerk & Recorder Nancy Heseman released the names of those who will be on the ballot for the various county races.  For Circuit Clerk, only Republican Cynthia “Cindy” Barczewski is running, as Republican Mark Styninger is the only person running for Coroner.  For State’s Attorney, only Democrat Celeste Korando is running, but 2 Republicans will be on the ballot, that being Heath Hooks and Daniel Bronke.  Those running for County Board positions include 3 for District 1.  Larry Unverfehrt is the only Republican, while Democrats Dennis Schemonic and Kathy “Kate” Muenter (Minter) are running, but there are 3 spots on the Board open.  For District 2, there are 2 positions open with Republicans Leo Barczewski and David Ibendahl on the ballot and no Democrats.  In District 3, there are 3 Republicans running for 3 spots and that includes Eric Brammeier, Victor Shubert and Paul Todd with no Democrats running.  There are several spots open for the various Precinct Committee positions, but no one is running opposed.  For Ashley, Democrat Len Piasecki, for Beaucoup, Democrat Charles Schultz, for DuBois #2, Democrat Luke Tomaszewski, for Hoyleton #1, Democrat Dale Sachtleben, for Hoyleton #2, Democrat Stanley Renth, for Irvington #1, Democrat Gera Sims, for Johannisburg, Republican Steven Droege, for Lively Grove, Democrat George “Bud” Jebron, for Nashville #3, Democrat Cynthia Cripe Caplin, for Okawville #1, Republican Daniel Janowski, for Pilot Knob, Republican Steve Fletcher, for Plum Hill, Republican Glenn Backs and for Richview, Democrat Arlene Skibinski.  Heseman says that people can still get on the ballot, if no one has filed for that position, the Party can fill a vacancy or the person can file to be a write-in candidate.  The last date to do this is January 14th.  Heseman says the first day to vote by mail is February 4, 2016.  She also said there is something new this year for young voters.  If you are going to be 18 before the November election, you can register to vote in the primary and there are many different ways to do that.  Sometimes a person has already left for school before November or in summertime, they don’t think about it, so this way they may register before the primary.  This will also allow them to vote in the November election.  The March election will be finalized on April 5th after canvassing is done from any other areas with the Washington County candidates on those ballots.
