The Illinois State Police out of DuQuoin report an accident yesterday afternoon involving a train and a tractor with injuries.  It occurred on Valier Carpet Road, approximately ½ mile south of Parrot Road in rural Perry County, southwest of Tamaroa.  Preliminary investigative details indicate the Perry County Highway Department tractor was south bound on Valier Carpet Road approaching the Union Pacific Rail Road crossing located approximately ½ mile south of Parrot Road.  The crossing is marked by cross bucks.  The train was east bound along the tracks.  The driver of the tractor, 44-year old Wayne M. Tedder of Pinckneyville, proceeded onto the crossing into the path of the train where it became struck.  He sustained minor injuries and was transported via ambulance to a local hospital where he was treated and released.  The single un-named occupant of the train was transported as a precautionary measure to a local hospital with minor injuries.  Tedder was cited for Disobeying Signal Indicating Approaching Train.
