There was an accident on Wednesday, December 9th at 8:15 AM on Interstate 64 near mile marker 47 in the westbound lanes.  According to the Illinois State Police report, a vehicle driven by 69-year old Robert L. Shook of Carterville was in the right lane and attempted to change lanes to pass someone in front, but struck the side of a vehicle driven by 34-year old Thetis M. Lovelady of Colp, who was in that spot on the highway.  Lovelady lost control of the vehicle and it struck a guardrail.  One passenger in Lovelady’s car was a 3-year old male, who had to be taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.  His other passenger was not injured, while Lovelady reported an injury, but it was not substantial, yet was also taken to an area hospital.  Shook and his passenger were not injured, but he was cited for Improper Lane Usage.
