The Ashley Grade School Board of Education met Monday night and the Board had a Truth in Taxation hearing before the regular meeting as they are asking for a 5.12 percent overall increase in the tax levy over last year. Some funds were below this and some above. They had asked for a higher percentage last year. The Board approved of this later in the meeting. Superintendent Brian Hodge reports that they now have 160 students, up 5 from November and up 13 from October. They also hired Christy Pelka as volunteer head volleyball coach and Charity Stofferahn as volunteer assistant volleyball coach. The Board approved of the district line of credit with Farmers & Merchants Bank. They also approved of spending up to $200 for skirts for the Pee Wee cheerleaders to come out of the Cheerleading Fund. Hodge said the Ashley High School Reunion on November 28th went well as they had approximately 220 people attend. Today is the last day of school with a 2:15 PM dismissal and the students are back in school on Monday, January 4, 2016. The next Board meeting is on January 25th.
