The Washington County Board held a special meeting last Wednesday night.  They were in closed session to go over the Fraternal Order of Police Union contract and the Prairie State Ash Fund.  When they came out of closed session, they had a tentative agreement with the FOP, as the Board agreed with the proposal, so signatures from each party were needed to finalize it.  It also appears as if the county will receive funds from Prairie State on another fund and that money will go into a special line item with restrictions on how it will be spent.  The dollar amount and what the money would go towards was not known at the time.  This is not the same as what they have been receiving from Prairie State that has funded the construction of the Judicial Building and the renovation of the Courthouse.  Chairman David Meyer reported that the Nashville-Washington County Enterprise Zone has been approved and will go through 2030.  It was actually approved of months ago, but it could not be officially signed because of the budget impasse.  The release of nearly $2 billion by the state government allowed the enterprise zones throughout the state to become official.
