The Washington County Sheriff’s Department assisted 3 motorists, including one on Wednesday as a vehicle was stuck in flood water in rural Okawville. They also responded to a couple of accidents. One was Saturday, as a vehicle driven by a 17-year old male from Nashville was traveling west on Route 15, when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to exit the roadway and overturn in a field. No injuries or citations issued were reported. The other accident occurred on Sunday as a vehicle on Interstate 64 at mile marker 35 had gone off the road and into flood waters to the north of the road. The unnamed driver and passenger were able to exit the vehicle and were given shelter until the Illinois State Police from District 11 responded to the scene. The Nashville Police Department also responded to some accidents in the past week. Last Monday, they responded to Sisco for a minor accident, then assisted the Sheriff’s Department with a vehicle off the I-64 at mile marker 49. On Friday, they took a report from Charles McFeron of a hit-and-run on the 1600 block of South Mill Street. There was an accident on Wednesday evening on Route 127, just south of Mockingbird Road, as a vehicle driven by 26-year old Jonathan Brown of Nashville was going south on Route 127 and went off the road, while trying to avoid a deer. Washington County Ambulance and the Nashville Fire Department responded to assist Brown with his injuries. On Thursday, officers responded to an accident in the late morning on Route 127 in front of McDonalds. A car driven by 49-year old Charla Burns of Woodlawn allegedly struck a car driven by 65-year old Dale Hartnell of Sandoval. Hartnell was taken to Washington County Hospital for treatment of his injuries, but no report of injuries to Burns or two passengers. There were no citations issued.
