The Nashville Chamber of Commerce had their General Membership meeting yesterday.  There are 63 members now, as the membership drive continues this month.  There are 8 businesses that were not with the Chamber last year, either because they are new or had not renewed their membership.  The Chicken & Beer Dance is on Saturday, February 27th from 8 to midnight with the doors opening at 7 PM at the American Legion in Nashville.  Music will be provided by County Road Cruizers.  There will also be the Wine Walk.  Tickets are $20 in advance or at the door, but can be purchased at Community Trust Bank, J & R Appliances, Regions Bank, Krogers, Regions Bank or the Chamber Office.  Nominations are being accepted for the Volunteer of the Year.  Submit the name of the person, along with a letter on why that person should be the Volunteer of the Year, to the Chamber Office.  The nominees will be voted on by the general membership at their meeting on February 10th at Little Nashville.  For more information on any of these events, call Director Doris Povolish at 618-327-3700.  The Chamber sponsors Santa in Nashville, including Santa Saturday, which was a success, but the Historical Society helped by providing the newly renovated L & N train depot as a place Santa could stay when the children visited throughout December.  There were over 400 visitors to Santa during that time and there were also plenty of positive comments about Santa being at the train depot.  The Historical Society would like to have Santa back next year.  Karen Droste of All Mart was introduced as the new Board member, replacing Alana England, who resigned as she is now managing the Mount Vernon Kroger’s store and did not have the time to be part of the Chamber anymore.
